producer and boss of mathematics records, jamal moss a.k.a hieroglyphic being is a one-off musical explorer. jamals music takes cues from the ebm and house that played a huge part in the city s musical underground in the late eighties and early nineties, notably ron hardy and adonis, but also industrial, avant-jazz and noise. his tireless schedule of rough low-key releases over the last 12 years and his intense, very physical, psychedelic music, have made him a key exponent or maybe even a pioneer of what has recently come to be named outsider house, although he prefers the more sun-ra like descriptors of rhythmic cubism and cosmic be-bop.

the last few years have seen chicago footwork rise to international success, and traxmans debut album - *the mind of traxman* on planet mu - played no small part in that. it showcased cornelius fergusons brilliant ability to synthesise the beat digging of classic hip hop with the high-speed abstraction of footworks house-derived beat science. the selection of tracks on this second chapter show a slightly different take on traxman s abilities. instead of bringing in concepts from other genres, he simply creates a wider variety of footwork, made with a minimal, reduced palette. often just one or two samples are selected and diced into brain-blurring cubist puzzles that bear little relation to their original sources, or anything else for that matter.

the infamous planet rhythm imprint is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2014. 20 naturally is a landmark-age and shows the label s ongoing persistence and hunger to catch the right beat. over the years many sounds within the techno genre have been showcased on this warm and respected home. coincidentally the label (now situated in rotterdam) just got onto a new a new flock of producers making their way into the crates of respected djs and like minded people wordwide.

after last years album *love & devotion* the husband and wife duo of mike paradinas and lara rix-martin follow up with *weird drift*. the album shows just how much their ability to write confident and thoughtful pop songs has developed, while still being able to retain the sleepy cushion of steamy synth pop that made the first record so rewarding to listen to. this time album features the vocals of a vezelay, a.k.a. french singer and producer matthieu le berre, who brings a gentle poised falsetto to the duos productions along with a delicate but hopeful angst. the vinyl lp comes with download code for the full album.

dj clent - the low end legend - has been known for his music since the days of dance mania, releasing tracks such as *bounce* and *back up off me* which are juke classics. he also released the grimy call to arms footwork track *3rd wurle*, as well as tracks on both bangs & works compilations.

within berlin-based imprint zaijenroots was launched in 2013, with a collaborative ep entitled they are strong from ibadan main man, jerome sydenham, and no mad ronin, who returns to the imprint for a solo endeavor here.

misty conditions is a project that started off when henry collins and richard wilson met up in henrys studio a couple of years ago and jammed for a few days non-stop, enjoying the process thoroughly. the connection became so good in this period that the duo developed a fluent understanding of how each other worked, ending up as a project made across the internet, while henry was living in france and richard in la. they cross pollinated by developing what each did best, henry making and creating banks of samples and richard creating software and effects to cut up and re-sample, passing the tracks back and forth, essentially until they felt finished.
